What is Isolite 5000?
Isolite 5000 is Regatta's waterproof and breathable lightweight fabric. It offers outstanding comfort and waterproof performance up to a hydrostatic head of 5000. The fabric has been independently tested to ensure it offers exceptional breathability and waterproofing. There is no need to re proof this fabric with expensive and environmentally damaging chemicals.
What is Hydrostatic Head?
This is the rating that waterproof fabric has been tested to. The higher the rating the better waterproofing it has. A typical waterproof jacket usually has a rating of 1000 – 1500mm and a tent 5000mm plus.
Leeds University tested a range of fabrics in their rain room and found that fabrics with a hydrostatic head rating of 1000mm had enough water resistance to withstand rain for over 4hrs. Tests like this do not test the actual garment as if there are seams, zips, or buttons they will need to be sealed with tape to ensure the waterproofing is not compromised.
